Christian Maaser leads the IBD center, is head of the Department of Geriatrics and acting chair of the Internal Medicine Department Hospital Lueneburg, Germany. He is one of the founding members and the past president of the International Bowel Ultrasound (IBUS) group, member of the steering committee of the German IBD Study Group (GISG) and has guided various national and international IBD guideline committees. One of his major research focuses is the role of intestinal ultrasound in monitoring IBD.
