Guidelines for Abstract Submission
Thank you for your interest in submitting an abstract for ICiUS 2025. Read the ICiUS submission guidelines below to make sure your abstract follows the correct formatting instructions and other requirements this year.
1. SUBMISSION
Each abstract must be submitted through the ICiUS Abstract portal.
Please ensure each submission confirms to the following criteria. Failure to submit your abstract as outlined below will mean that your abstract may not be reviewed.

3. SUBMISSION FEE
There is a $100 (AUD) non-refundable processing charge per abstract. Please note that this is a processing fee, not a publishing fee, and that abstracts not selected for presentation at ICiUS are also subject to the fee.
Abstract submission fees are non-refundable. Refunds will not be offered to authors who submit duplicate abstracts, return their abstract to draft status, or withdraw their abstracts. No refunds will be offered for abstracts not selected for presentation at ICiUS 2025 or to authors of accepted abstracts not able to attend ICiUS 2025.
Abstracts are not considered submitted until payment information has been received. Authors have the option of paying by Visa®, Mastercard® or American Express®. No invoices, purchase orders or checks will be accepted.
4. PUBLICATION
All abstracts accepted will be published in Gut journal unless the submitting author requests otherwise.
5. ABSTRACT ELIGIBILITY
Abstracts containing basic, clinical or translational research finding in the field of gastroenterology with its focus on intestinal ultrasound may be submitted.
Abstracts that have been submitted to or presented at other national or international meetings may be submitted provided that prior presentation and/or submission to other meetings is declared during the ICiUS submission process.
Abstracts will not be considered for presentation if they have been published as an article or have been accepted for publication (including manuscripts) in printed or electronic format upon the abstract submission deadline.
6. ABSTRACT FORMATTING INSTRUCTION
Abstracts must be written in English with single spacing.
Abstract title may not be longer than 255 characters, including spaces.
Identifying information like author or institution names must not be included in the title. Abstract title must be fully capitalised, but authors can format to add superscript or subscript during submission.
Author names: First name(s) and last name(s).l Full names are required. The affiliation (only one), including country, of each author.
For abstract text, there is limit of 2,900 characters, including spaces, for the abstract text. Information included in the tables or images does not count toward this limit. Any abbreviation should be defined where first mentioned.
Please include the sub-heading shown below in the abstract text (if appropriate for the work being presented). Note: Title and author details will be entered in the online form, so should not be included in the abstract text.

Do not leave spaces between each sub-heading. Write immediately after sub-heading’s semicolon. Case reports should instead use the headings Introduction, Case Report and Conclusion.
Abstracts may include up to two images per abstract.
- Images will only be accepted in gif, png, tiff, tif, jpg or jpeg formats. PDFs will not be accepted. A minimum resolution of 300 dpi is required.
- Any author wishing to include a table with their abstract must submit the table as an image file type.
- Figure(s) and/or Table(s) must be numbered clearly (for example: Figure 1 or Table 1).
- Figure(s) and/or Table(s) should be cited in the abstract to which they belong.
- Images will be published as submitted if accepted for presentation. Authors should remove large borders from images. Large images may be scaled for publication.
- Authors are responsible for obtaining any necessary image permissions for inclusion in their abstracts.
7. SELECTION
All abstracts are peer-reviewed and ranked on the basis of scientific merit as outlined in the criteria. Submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the ICiUS Steering Committee using the ranking criteria below. Note: an average reviewer score below 25% is considered an automatic rejection.

8. ABSTRACT PRESENTATION FORMATS
ICIUS 2025 will offer oral and ePoster presentation.
If an abstract is selected for lecture, the presenting author is required to register for and attend ICiUS 2025 in person and present their abstract at the date and time specified in their acceptance notification. Live-streamed or pre-recorded video presentation will not be permitted.
If an abstract is selected for ePoster, the presenting author is required to register for ICiUS 2025 and upload ePoster file. The selected ePoster will be showcased in the exhibition area during ICiUS 2025, and attendees can view them in detail through the conference App.
9. FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE REQUIREMENTS
Presenting authors are required to submit their financial disclosure by the abstract submission deadline. Abstracts missing presenting author disclosure as of the submission deadline are in jeopardy of being involuntary withdrawn from consideration for presentation at ICiUS 2025.
Abstract co-authors are welcome to submit financial disclosure but are NOT required to do so.
Upon submission of an abstract, the submitting author and presenting author will receive an email message informing them of the abstract submission. The message will contain a link that presenting authors may use to log into the abstract submission site to complete the disclosure form.
Presenting authors must disclose all financial relationships with ineligible companies over the previous 24 months. Authors with such relationships will be asked to list the names of the companies with which they are involved, the benefits received (e.g., salary, consulting fee, ownership interest, etc.) and any roles they play within the named commercial entities (e.g., advisory committee member, board member, employee, shareholder, etc.) Authors without relationship may state that they have no information to close.
It is the submitting author’s responsibility to:
- Ensure that the presenting author submits their financial disclosure of ICiUS 2025 by the abstract submission deadline.
- Inform any other co-authors that they have been listed on an abstract submission. Only submitters and presenting authors will receive submission confirmation email messages from the submission site after an abstract has been submitted.
10. RULES AND REGULATIONS
By submitting an abstract, the contact author certifies that they and all co-authors listed on the abstract have read and agree to the following ICiUS 2025 Rules for Submission.
Commitment to Present
- Submission of an abstract constitutes a commitment by the author(s) to register for ICiUS and present the abstract (if selected for presentation) at the date, time and location specified in the acceptance notification, if accepted.
- All presentations at ICiUS 2025 will be in English. Oral abstract presentations must be made by an author who speaks and understands English.
- Presenters are required to register for the meeting.
- Expenses associated with the submission and presentation of an abstract are the sole responsibility of the presenting author.
Previous Presentation, Publication and Duplication
- ICiUS encourage the submission of abstracts that have not yet been presented at other large medical meetings. Abstracts that have been submitted to or presented at other national or international meetings may be submitted provided that prior presentation and/or submission to other meetings is declared during the ICiUS submission process.
- Abstracts will not be considered for presentation if they have been published as an article or have been accepted for publication (including manuscripts) in printed or electronic format upon the abstract deadline.
- Abstracts will not be considered for presentation if they have been duplicated in any way.
Co-Author Participation
- By submitting an abstract, the corresponding author affirms that their co-authors have participated sufficiently in the intellectual content, the analysis of data and the writing of the abstract to take public responsibility for it.
Ethical Statement
- Corresponding authors affirm that they and the other authors submitting an abstract to ICiUS certify that the data included in their abstract submission and/or presented at ICiUS is truthful, original, unduplicated and without fraud or fabrication.
